MARCH 7, 2015

TODAY IS RACE DAY!!

39 degrees in Anchorage but better conditions, Iditarod wise, by Fairbanks where its colder and snowing for the start

CEREMONIAL START IN ANCHORAGE;

Wish I could share it with you but with 78 mushers to go out that would be too long for any armchair traveller to sit. Its live on the internet.
It is 2pm and I saw three of the mushers leave with their Idiarider.
ROD COOK, a rookie from Whitehorse drew #2 so he was the first to go. The #1 was a tribute ride by the wife of an Iditarod legend.
JESSIE ROYER was next #3--I had lunch with her in Nome a few years back. Down to earth, dedicated to her mushing and does well but not always close to the top.
MARTIN BUSER #4 of course one of my favorites. Its a family thing too with the Buser family. The two boys are involved with mushing. One in this race, Rohn.
