MARCH 2015

The tough part of this race is not  snow conditions but the cold. It is now minus at all checkpoints.
Martin Buser was thrilled when he opened his stored bags at Tanana and found a new neck warmer!! GOLD!! As I said, I would have stayed at those Hot Springs!!
Some unfortunate news: BRENT SASS--veteran and winner of the Yukon Quest this year, has been disqualified for breaking rule #35:
"no 2 way communication device, including cell phones, shall be carried or used unless provided by ITC.". He was carrying an IPod touch used as an alarm clock, for music and to watch movies. He didn't consider the WI-FI feature.
Tearfully he said "I want to apologize to my fellow mushers, my fans, my supporters, my family, friends and my dogs especially." He admitted it was stupid, stupid, stupid on his part!!
You can use a one way ELT Emergency Locator Transmitter. No night vision goggles are allowed either.
