THURSDAY MARCH 9, 2017
The leaders are now out of GALENA in this order:
MITCH SEAVEY
JESSIE ROYER
MICHELLE PHILIPS
RALPH JOHANNESSEA
JOHN BAKER
NICOLAS PETIT
DALLAS SEAVEY took his 24 hour layover in RUBY
Some didn't want to stay in RUBY as it was too"busy". They also had left TANANA where it was
-36. Many are experiencing frost bite on their hands. I know the feeling as I had frost bite on a few
toes when I was in Alaska skiing. Something you live with from that day on........
When the mushers got to RUBY it was busy there as many teams just wanted to warm up!!
Some are taking their first 24 hour layover in GALENA like:
JEFF KING
NICOLAS PETIT took an 8 hour layover in GALENA and left about 4:00pm.
HUGH NEFF in 9th place took a breather in GALENA
Temperature in TANANA is -36
RUBY is +9
GALENA is +12
HUSLIA is + 7
seems to be warming up.
JASON MACKEY is now 10th
HANS GATT now 17th
ALIY ZIRKLE now 23
to mention a few.
ELLEN HALVERSON is still second from last and is still in TANANA (hope she moves on quickly to warm up in RUBY.
MARK MAY #68 scratched in TANANA. Don't know the reason, will check on it.
