DAY 9 of the IDITAROD
Little late tonight as I have been getting ready for our predicted 2 feet of snow tomorrow. If we do lose power, just know I shall return....
NOW ITS A REAL RACE:
MITCH SEAVEY is racing like a champ. He is now in ELIM with 12 dogs at mile 856.
NICOLAS PETIT is 2 miles behind MITCH
JOAR.....is 10 miles behind MITCH
DALLAS SEAVEY is 13 miles behind
WADE MARRS is 43 miles back.
Hate to say ELLEN HALVERSON is 346 miles behind MITCH. She has left HUSLIA and is
on her way to KOYUKUK
DAVE BRANHOLM scratched in KALTAG with 13 dogs. He said it was due to personal concerns he had for his health and safety. Remember he was one who had frost bite near the beginning of the race.
Another sad note: GROOVEY, a 3 year old male, dropped by JOHN BAKER was sent to ANCHORAGE to be checked out by the Vets there. The Vets and Iditarod Committee realeased him,
in good health. Later in the evening, he got loose at his handlers home, and got hit by a car and died.
How very very sad.
Few notes earlier today. MITCH SEAVEY said he had a terrifying run into KOYUK. It was glare
ice and big chunks of ice--that was at 8am. He then stayed a few hours to readjust.
ALIY ZIRKLE enjoyed SHAKTOOLIK because they had BATHROOMS!!! Usually there is wind and its cold in SHAKTOOLIK but today it was bright sun, no wind. Everyone was thrilled.
MICHELLE PHILLIPS was into SHAKTOOLIK and described the enchanting moon and lovely
night weather. She was all smiles
can you believe, this is the only picture that came out!!! Faced with changes, ANCHORAGE furriers
adapt to survive!!!! Interested??
