HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSA
Few happenings today. Dr. Robert Bundtzen (ret. MD) had 11 dogs and last nite near Koyuk he was stranded on the ice for 24 hours. HIS DOGS WOULD NOT GO ON!! Can happen. Dan Seavey says it just may be the training but other circumstances could have entered the pic. They had to go out on the ice and rescue him, dogs and sled. Took a while!! He scratched!
Then Karin Hendrickson was in White Mountain ( SO close to Nome, almost here) and her dogs did the same--a no go. Can't make dogs go if they don't want to. (easier than a cat, right Tara and Sissy?). She had 11 dogs and had to scratch at White Mountain.
Kristy Berington came in with 7 dogs at 11:02 am. She has a twin sister and I was photographing her for awhile instead of Kristy. Her sister wants to run the race with her next year. That would be fun!!
Then came Kelly Maxiner, in at 11:29 with 11 dogs and a green sparkling top hat with Irish music playing.
We then went looking for the St. Patrick's Day parade. It was at the shute where the mushers come in off the ice of the Bering Sea. We had a BIG parade--maybe 35 people and a flashing lite police car leading the way up Front St. under the arch. Lady had her three kids dressed in green dog suits with harnesses and her carriage looked like a sled. So cute. Lots of greenery. Hank and I wore all our dress up we brought!!
Not as big as the Macy's Day parade but its Nome!!!!
Then to a class to make fish skin earrings! Had to eat the dried fish first to get down to the skin--a bit yuck but ate it. They look pretty good. They smell but only Styles will know that!!
Gotta go to the dog lot, be back.
Even Styles thinks thats gross
