Went to a talk on the Bering Land Bridge given by the Parks Dept. Not so good. Then Rick Swenson came in at 7:52 pm. He has been in many many Iditarods and is a legend. Being 20th wasn't so great for him. He is usually in the top 10.
Then up to the Russian House (? name) in a trailer. This "strange" man has tons of ivory, furs, books etc. and is a real character. Interesting shop if you can tolerate all his talking! Our friends from the Craft Fair were there to buy furs from him. This lady makes beautiful fur hats, boots etc. Fine workswomanship!!(well, it isn't worksmanship!!) They bought a wolf fur for $500 and said it was a good buy.
@@@Forgot to mention the Craft Fair. Local crafts are sold all week. Bought few ivory "things" here. You know they are authentic. Good Fair.
Then Cim Smyth came in at 8:59. He is the brother of Ramey Smyth who came in second. Ramey, his wife and 2 small kids there to greet him. Father came as a surprise.
Then to the Arm Wrestling Contest at the Polar Bar on Front St.
Lance and some other mushers were in it. Lance beat 3 guys and lost twice. It went on and on so we left-don't know who finally won. Girls contest too.
Its 10pm and haven't eaten yet so we went for the "standby" Milano's. They have sushi as well. Go figure, pizza and sushi!! Ramey Smyth, Jessie Royer and the camermen were there. Ok dinner. Then to bed. Tomorrow we will spend a bit of time volunteering at the dog lot. It is ST. PATRICKS DAY so I am going to get my green outfit out for tomorrow. Hank has one as well. Parade at 1:00. Hank and another person in it last year. Not the Macy's parade!! NITE!!
