LISBET NORRIS scratched in UNALAKLEET with 10 dogs--in the best interest of the team. I'm sad to hear this as she is the only team of Siberian Husky's.  She is from a Siberian Husky family. Her Grandpa is an icon and legendary Iditarod competetor and  also legendary in the world of Siberian Huskey's. Her Grandpa and her Mom raced in the Iditarod. She has a degree in Northern Studies and History from the Univ of Alaska in Fairbanks.

Just a tid bit: It is 10 degrees in NOME with a nighttime temp of -3 cold and windy.

BRIDGETT WATKINS always gave her dogs encouragement by calling out to them and letting them know they are doing a great job. She thinks that really matters. 6 weeks ago they were attacked by a moose on a practice run. The moose finally ran away. All was well. When they were leaving MCGRATH they had a Mom and Baby Moose right in front of them and with a lot of yelling they left but she did have her gun out ready if absolutely necessary. Another moose encounter went without incident. She said they did see a lot of moose along the trail.

15 minutes before a musher will be coming down FrontSt and under the Burled Arch the fire siren blows so everyone can get ready. Great sound to hear. Till tomorrow !!
