Late updates--almost midnight here in NY--8pm in Alaska.
DALLAS SEAVEY in CRIPPLE and taking his 24 hour layover. He is 3 hours ahead of #2NOAH BURMEISTER then ROBERT SORLIE, JOHN BAKER, JEFF KING and LANCE MACKEY.
MARTIN BUSER is 17th and in OPHIR.
OPHIR to CRIPPLE is about 11-13 hours ugh!!
At OPHIR they are 487 miles from WILLOW--the start.
DALLAS SEAVEY was first to MCGRATH and then got the trophy for the first to the 1/2 way point and a few thousand dollars in nuggets!!
SOOO sad to see HANS GATT scratched in NIKOLAI. I'll have to find out what happened.
HUGH NEFF is in MCGRATH BUT he has done his 24 hours. He is the only one. Interesting stragedy.

Farwell burn is a tricky, how about the HAPPY RIVER STEPS--at least there is snow on them . This is RICK CASILLO on the trail
Here is WADE MARRS on the STEPS--narrow!! One year there was no snow on them--rocks, sticks and dirt only. Thats worse!!!
Ok so this is a little late but here is JOANNE POTTS, a race director, with her #1 Hononary bib on.
I spoke about her early on..... She is in WILLOW... Out of sequence

Its 10:45PM in NY and its 6:45PM in Alaska.
DALLAS SEAVEY just came into MCGRATH and is bedding the dogs down for about 4 hours then maybe go all the way to CRIPPLE before stopping for his 24 hour. MITCH SEAVEY, the Dad, just went through MCGRATH and on to TAKOTNA to take his 24 hour layover. Everyone has a different stragedy.
It will take MITCH about 2 1/2 hours to get to Takotna on an ever changing trail. He will experience some steep ups and downs, lots of curves etc. interesting run. Dusk is setting in so it will be dark by the time he gets there.
This year the Insider has offered, to their membership, live feeds from the checkpoints. Joe and Danny are manning the coverage. So, this year you can feel like you're present and part of the race. There is also a chat room where you can ask them questions. Great to have the interaction.

Just a quick note. Just heard from Misty in TOKOTNA. She said they have LOTS of snow so that's good news. They expect the first mushers in tonight. She's getting ready. They have their choice of a great big steak and/or whatever Misty is making--soup, casserole etc etc etc with pies and all. Delicious. Food is always ready and everyone is so happy and friendly--that's 24/7!!!! Great place to stop and rest.
OK I tried. The map you see is the route from Fairbanks, last years race. SOO just take it from NULATO---some info anyway....I'll keep trying. I do think one of the problems is I have a subscription to the insider so I get pictures. I don't think they want me to share those so the computer just won't send them. I'm working with that. Any suggestions?
